Public Street Lighting Service

Availability

This Schedule is available for the purpose of lighting dedicated public streets, highways, parks or public places for municipal, county, state and federal governments in all territory served by the Cooperative.

Type of Service

A street lighting system designed in accordance to Service Rules and Regulations and the most uniformed recommended IES street lighting standards for public applications.

Explanatory Notes:

  1. No additional pole cost per month for lights mounted on existing distribution pole or secondary pole with existing secondary facilities (excluding temporary or construction service poles)
  2. Consumer will pay the dedicated pole charge per month for each additional pole required to serve the light
  3. Monthly bill for underground service will be increased by $3.25 per pole in lieu of a one-time contribution of $150 per pole
  4. If a dedicated transformer is required for lighting there will be a $6.50 additional monthly charge
  5. Contract period for lighting fixtures mounted on existing distribution poles is 1 year
  6. Contract period for lighting fixtures mounted on a dedicated overhead pole is 3 years
  7. Contract period for lighting fixtures mounted on a dedicated underground pole is 5 years
  8. Contract period for decorative or nonstandard lighting fixtures mounted on a dedicated pole is 10 years
  9. The Contract period shall be renewed annually until terminated by the customer or Cooperative.
  10. All Contracts terminated before the expiration of the initial Contract period shall be subject to a 40% termination fee based on the remaining bills in the initial Contract term.
  11. Consumer may be required to pay a termination deposit in accordance to existing service procedures
  12. All nonstandard and abnormal construction methods shall be subject to a Monthly Facilities Charge in accordance with the Line Extension Policy.
  13. Mercury vapor and some metal halide lighting fixtures are not available for new installations.  Existing fixtures will be replaced with a compatible sodium vapor or metal halide fixture upon failure of the fixture or ballast at no charge to the consumer and will be billed in accordance to this schedule.  Lamp replacement will continue to be made as long as replacement lamps are reasonably available from suppliers.
  14. All idle security lighting facilities will be removed from service after 12-months of inactivity.

    WHOLESALE POWER AND TIER ADJUSTMENT:
  15. Wholesale Power costs are included in the kilowatt- hour charges and are subject to adjustment annually.   The above monthly rate will be adjusted by a factor necessary to maintain TIER (Times Interest Earned Ratio) as set forth by the Mortgage Agreements between the Cooperative and the lending agencies of RUS and CFC and as set by the Cooperative Board of Trustees.
