Santee Electric thanks members for patience

Santee Electric
Cooperative reported about 3,000 total power outages related to the
winter storm that moved through Florence, Clarendon, Georgetown and
Williamsburg counties late Sunday night and Monday. The majority of
those outages were in Williamsburg County, followed by about 800
outages in Georgetown County. Most of the outages were caused by
ice collecting on limbs and trees that in turn fell across power
lines.
As temperatures are not expected to rise very much today, we expect sporadic outages, also caused by limbs, tonight as well. We appreciate our member's patience as our crews and extra office personnel have been working around the clock to ensure the power is restored as soon as possible.
Please use extreme caution when driving and alert us immediately if you see downed power lines or have an outage at 1-888-239-2300.
Also remember that keeping your home 40 degrees warmer than the outside air puts quite a demand on heaters, causing them to work harder and run longer, using more electricity. Cold weather will mean higher than normal electric bills for consumers because heating systems, hot water heaters and other electric devices are being used more.
Local agencies may be able to provide direct assistance with paying electric bills. In Florence County, Pee Dee Community Action Agency can be reached at 843-394-7440. In Clarendon County, Wateree Community Actions, Inc. can be reached at 803-432-3411. In Georgetown and Williamsburg Counties, the Waccamaw Economic Opportunity Council, Inc. can be reached at 843-546-6161 or 843-355-9922.
